Description

Emotional outbursts start as bubbling seeds invisible to children lacking interoceptive awareness. “Big Feelings” uses friendly illustrations to walk through the progression of emotions manifesting physically so children learn to identify cues that come before their explosions. Scenarios show butterflies in bellies warning of anxiety or clenching fists indicating rising anger. By spotlighting changes inside, kids gain skills to foresee and thoughtfully navigate inner distress. The story suggests positive outlets like squeezing stress balls when upset or seeking space when overstimulated. Equipped with the ability to recognize and release, children cultivate self-regulation instead of reflexive reactions when their weather patterns turn stormy.
